Fire Alarm & Life Safety for
Utah Hotels & Resorts

Complete life safety and security systems for hotels, resorts, and hospitality facilities — protecting guests and staff across Utah.

Industry Overview

Protecting Your Guests. Protecting Your Reputation.

Hotels and hospitality facilities present unique life safety challenges: high-rise construction, large numbers of sleeping occupants unfamiliar with the building, complex mixed occupancies combining guest rooms with restaurants, conference spaces, and service areas. PCS provided the fire alarm systems for Black Desert Resort in Ivins — Utah's largest destination resort, with 447 rooms and suites in its Resort Center — and has protected hotels across Utah.

From fire alarm and voice evacuation to access control, CCTV, and fire extinguisher service — PCS delivers comprehensive systems that protect guests and staff while supporting the seamless operation that hospitality requires. Our mobile fire extinguisher service is particularly valuable for hotels with large extinguisher inventories spread across multiple floors.

Code & Compliance

  • NFPA 72: Fire Alarm Code

Guest rooms, corridors, and all common areas require detection and notification per current NFPA 72.

  • IFC 907: Hotel Fire Alarm (Group R-1)

Hotels generally require a manual fire alarm system, automatic smoke detection in interior corridors, and smoke alarms in every guest room.

  • IFC 510: ERRCS

Required where the AHJ's radio test shows inadequate coverage; large, below-grade and concrete hotels often need a BDA/DAS.

  • ADA Requirements

Accessible guest rooms require visual notification appliances and ADA-compliant fire alarm signaling.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Every guest room needs smoke alarms, and hotels generally require a building fire alarm system with automatic smoke detection in interior corridors. A required number of accessible guest rooms must also have visible notification appliances (strobes) for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing. PCS designs hotel fire alarm systems to Utah's adopted codes and can assess your property's compliance status.

We coordinate a date with your facilities team and handle annual maintenance either on site through our mobile service or at the PCS shop. When units come back to the shop for service, we leave loaner extinguishers so every floor stays protected, and every extinguisher is returned tagged and documented with minimal disruption to hotel operations. PCS holds Utah State Fire Marshal certificate #E104811.

Yes. PCS coordinates life safety system work during hotel renovations, including phased construction projects. We work with the general contractor to maintain fire watch protocols and ensure continuous protection of occupied areas throughout the project.
